If you're not planning on moving out of your home soon, you might decide on a bathroom remodel or renovation that works for you and your family, without any thought as to how it might affect your home's resale value. However, if you are thinking of one day putting your home on the market, you need to consider what potential home buyers may be looking for when it comes to bathrooms, laundry, and the like. Note a few plumbing renovations that are often considered the best for improving a home's overall resale value.

1. First-floor or second-floor laundry

Having a washer and dryer in the basement means lugging heavy baskets up and down stairs; this is cumbersome and even downright dangerous. New home buyers may want a home that is as convenient for them as possible when it comes to something they use as often as their washing machine, so consider moving your laundry station to the first floor or even the second floor where the bedrooms are located.

2. Double sinks

It is difficult to work around someone else in the morning when everyone is trying to get out the door at once, so this is why double sinks are often appreciated by new home buyers. If you have the room in your master bathroom, add a double sink vanity and consider doing the same in second bathrooms that are connected to a child's room or guestrooms.

3. Copper plumbing

When renovating or remodeling your home, you may be thinking about its appearance alone. However, a home buyer will also be thinking about potential repair costs they may face down the road and how older, outdated plumbing pipes may be more likely to corrode, rust, and so on. Installing new copper plumbing that is likely to last for years if not decades can be a great choice for when you're remodeling and have access to the plumbing pipes. Even if the pipes in your home are currently in good repair, upgrading to copper can make your home a better investment for potential home buyers.

4. Water filtration

Many homeowners appreciate features that allow them to save money on their utilities and use the least amount of natural resources as possible. A water filtration system can actually recycle grey water, or the water that goes down the kitchen sink and bathtub drain, so that it gets cleaned enough to use for watering lawns and gardens. Having this system installed can allow a potential home buyer see how they can save fresh water while keeping the outside of the home healthy and lush.
